One of the major reasons that treating hearing loss early is important is really to take a look at your life and determine if there's anything you feel you're missing out on. Have you found yourself not wanting to go to your favorite restaurant anymore because you're not hearing well in that environment? So it's important to find out why that is happening and if it's hearing loss.
The hearing devices today are so advanced and there's so many options for everyone that it's really important to just determine if you have a loss and if hearing aids would be helpful. If you feel like it's sounding like everybody is mumbling, that you're not catching all of the beginnings and endings of words, that's also a sign of hearing loss.
Hearing loss affects so many areas of the quality of life for people. Not only do they sometimes withdraw and stop doing things they enjoy when they're not hearing well in those environments, but also it can affect our memory. It really can start to separate you from your life and from things that you enjoy, and it's so important to stay connected.
So often people tell me after they have their hearing aids, “I wish I did this sooner.” I work with all hearing aid manufacturers, so it really opens us up to a lot of possibilities to assist with hearing loss if we find that you have hearing loss during your hearing evaluation.
